The power of habit

I have just finished reading a book titled ‘The Power of Habit’ three weeks ago. It was a good read. Alex pre-ordered it a month before it was published and finished it in two days after its arrival in April. It took me the next four months after that!

I love to read although I don’t always read and I have a very short attention span. Every time I read, I tell myself to read more often, because it is fun. However, once I put down a book I forget about it, unless if I happen to stop at the story’s climax (but I seldom read fiction nowadays).

Anyway, The Power of Habit is an interesting book. It deciphered the mysteries behind my habit formation and changed my perceptions of the roles habits play in our lives. After all, the saying goes:

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

Here is a video to share. It is a summary of the book’s content and explains the general concept of how habits are formed and just how much they affect one’s life.

How my shopping addiction started

This is a compilation post of the remaining unpublished outfits during last year’s Italy trip. I have done similiar ones here and here. My little ‘ritual’.

My first outfits compilation post was photos from Paris trip, three and half years ago. It was around that time I started to shop put more effort in styling. Looking at the amount of clothes I have now, I actually thought the addiction started even earlier.

Anyway, Alex was the one who planted this idea of styling myself in my mind. Back then, after about half a year of our relationship, he mentioned that I should change my wardrobe. That indirectly meant that all my clothes in my then wardrobe should go and I should replace them with new ones! (He tried to change me and is still doing it). So with that ‘permission’, I started shopping to build my new wardrobe and… I am not finished yet.
